Prof Cuneyt Kayaalp is one of the leading surgeons in Europe in obesity surgery. Following an impressive education in the best medical schools of Turkey, he graduated from Hacettepe University (Ankara, Turkey) as an MD in 1989. Specialising on  gastroenterological surgery, he worked on cancer, liver and pancreas surgery in the USA (Memorian Sloan Kettering Cancer Centre, NY; Mount Sinai Hospital, NY; Jacksons Centre, University of Miami, FL) and Japan (Ktoyo University). Prof Kayaalp’s special interest in obesity surgery took him to Austria (County Hospital of Salzburg, Salzburg) and Belgium (AZ Sint-Jan Hospital, Burgees) where he mastered his surgery skills in weight loss surgery. Prof Kayaalp has received many international awards and his publications amount to hundreds, many of which are often referred to by experts across the world. With a history of hundreds of successful operations Prof Kayaalp’s expertise in obesity surgery is trusted by thousands of patients.

At the moment, Prof Kayaalp is the Head of Gastrointestinal Surgery Department at Yeditepe University, one of the few JCI-accredited* hospitals in the region. He is married with two children and lives in Istanbul, Turkey.
